HP For Business!

Hello All,

I just watched the HP Chrome Enterprise presentation and I have to say that I really liked what I saw.

HP is releasing 3 new business Chromebooks over the next couple months, one of which is an Intel Project Athena 2-in-1, which will undoubtedly be the most expensive of the three devices HP announced today.

First up is the HP Chromebook 14 G6 Enterprise: This military grade device is great for those of us who deal with homes that need lots of love. It is durable, spill resistant, and in this time of working from home, essentially kid proof. It can have up to a full HD screen (no need for 4K in real estate, though I have to admit I love 4K), up to 8GB RAM and 128 GB hard drive, and has all the necessary ports including a card reader! It looks like it is only available with a Celeron processor, but for most of us that is all that is necessary for a good Chrome OS experience.

Next is the HP Pro c640 Chromebook Enterprise: This device is probably my favorite of the three devices HP unveiled today because it just hits the sweet spot. It comes with all the necessary ports including a card reader! You also have the option to have a touchscreen on this device as well and it has a full 180 degree hinge so it can lay flat for collaborative efforts, a nice touch for those who work in a team environment. For security minded people, this device has a camera shutter and the option to add a fingerprint reader. The data sheets are not up yet so I cannot comment on exact specs at this time, but from the presentation, this sure looks like it's going to be a great Chromebook. Oh, and as a bonus, it has Wi-Fi 6.

Lastly, the HP Elite c1030 Chromebook Enterprise: This is a premium 2-in-1 device that I feel is best suited for people in medium-to-large property management organizations as far as real estate goes. It is also USI-Pen compatible, so you can take notes on the go on your device and guess what, HP announced a new USI Pen today as a bonus! Back to the Elite, it has all the necessary ports including a card reader and like the Pro c640 it has WiFi 6 and the option to add a fingerprint reader. This device also has a built in privacy screen so for those who use co-working spaces as an office, this is ideal. The spec sheets are not up yet so I cannot comment on those, but it is indeed a Project Athena device which means it is going to be a premium device that may very well cost a premium.

So, the USI Pen... It can last 20 days on a charge and it charges via USB-C which is amazing. I'm not sure how many of us in real estate use USI Pens but the fact that HP made one available is great for those of us who do use USI Pens.

Well, that's all for now. I'm hoping that there will also be consumer versions of the Pro c640 and the Elitie c1030. Today was a big day for Enterprise Chromebooks, and for larger real estate organizations, these solutions can work really well for you.

A new gem from HP

Hello All, HP has been on a roll lately, now coming out with a new flagship consumer Chromebook, the Chromebook x360 14c. There will be multiple variants of this Chromebook and it will be available both directly from HP and from Best Buy. At minimum, you get a Pentium 6405u processor with 4 GB of RAM and at the high end you get an Intel 10th Gen i5 with 8 GB of RAM. I am not too sure about hard drive specifications but the good news is that it does come with all the necessary ports including a card reader! It is also USI Pen compatible for those who like an e-signature to look like a wet signature. This is a 14" convertible machine with a touchscreen which should be the right mix of business and pleasure for most real estate professionals. By all accounts, the lowest spec Pentium model will start at $499 once it becomes available. Long Time No Update.. so let's talk AMD and Zillow

 Hey All! I know it's been quite a long time since I posted so I just wanted to check in and apologize for not posting in what seems like forever. There is not a lot of news on the Chrome OS front except for one major thing... AMD Ryzen Chromebooks are on the way! I personally prefer AMD processors to Intel processors and AMD's Ryzen processors are the cream of the crop. My Windows laptop (that I hardly use anymore because of how much I prefer using Chrome OS) has an AMD Ryzen 5 processor in it for example. Lenovo and HP have already announced Chromebooks with AMD Ryzen processors on the way and AMD has said that Acer and Asus will also be announcing such devices in the near future. According to benchmarks, the AMD Ryzen processors outperform Intel Core processors, so this is very exciting for us real estate professionals who want better performance in the devices we use to conduct our business. It's Been Months

 Hello All, It's been months since I've written anything on here so I just wanted to check back in. The world of Chrome OS is in a waiting pattern while new technology is slowly churning out onto the market although there are a couple small, but key, developments I want to briefly touch on. First, awhile ago I wrote about Progressive Web Applications on here. Well, at Google I/O (Google's big developer summit for those who don't know) which is happening in a little over a week, they are doing a whole thing about making Progressive Web Applications more native to Chrome OS. This can be a boon for realtors and landlords alike. Imaging having the ability for someone to click on your icon on their home screen to inquire about a property or to pay rent or to put in for a maintenance repair, or anything of that sort without having to open a browser. That is what we are talking about here. This could be a major breakthrough in the real estate space if people utilize it properl
